Research

We partner with researchers and academics to further the study of community finance. We are committed to publishing our research, findings, and methodology to allow others to study community finance.

We partnered with students and faculty from the Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, to develop an interactive tool that estimates and maps peer lending behavior across the United States. Using machine learning models trained on national survey data - the Survey of Household Economics and Decision making (SHED) and the Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) - this tool predicts critical aspects of peer lending at the Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA) level using inputs from the American Community Survey (ACS).

For the first time ever, we have a visual mapping of peer-lending activity that can be used to bring recognition to peer lending and build the case for integration with mainstream finance.
